Thank You 42!

42 Baby! That is what I declared last year on my birthday. As 42 is apparently the “Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything” I made an intention to figure out some answers to the important questions in my life.

The year has been one I will never forget. It was not what I would call an easy year; but rather a meaningful year. One in which I defined my life’s purpose. It will forever remain the year I woke up and started to consciously create the life I am supposed to live.

For the last 20 years I have been in the corporate world pursuing a career in Human Resources. I have had the fortunate experience of being a generalist which has brought much diversity in experiences. It has been a field that I have loved and has provided well for me.  Unfortunately, in the last two years I have been doing a lot of the less enjoyable parts of my job like – lay-offs, restructures, job loss. I have had limited time to do the pieces that breathe life into me – organizational development, leadership training, culture building.

But I truly believe everything happens for a reason and having large doses of what does not serve me has made it very clear that I need to be in alignment with what feeds my soul. It has helped me understand my life’s purpose – to help people become authentic leaders in all areas of their lives and create balance and more meaning. I need to be in alignment with things that are positive and help bring people and organizations up. I need to be a part of building and developing winning teams, organizations and relationships.

My understanding of my life’s purpose did not just present itself. I made a conscious inquiry to understand it in my 42nd year. The power was not in the number. The power was in the conscious inquiry. I then listened and was open to the feelings, messages and experiences that led me to the answer.

One thing I have also learned this year is that when you are in alignment with your life’s purpose things happen – quickly, to get you there. I found out earlier this month that my position has been eliminated. My official last day in the corporate world is the very last day of my 42nd year.

So I say thank you 42 and declare this year as “43 – Oh Yeah Baby!” as it promises to be bigger, better and brighter as I continue to consciously create a life that is aligned with my purpose.

Join me! What do you want to understand more fully? If you were not afraid what would you do? When does your soul sparkle? Ask, be open and receive. You will be surprised at what you can accomplish.
