My initiation into Abundance began when I was in a place in my life that none of my ego attachments were working. My career wasn’t working, my money wasn’t working and my relationships were not working. I was in a long distance relationship with my husband, I was making less money than I needed to live on, and I had no idea what was my passionate career that would fulfill me and pays me well at the same time.
When something like that happens, it is truly an initiation into the soul journey because there is nothing my ego could attach itself to feel good. It almost feels like death. Nothing that I believed in would provide me security, was there to provide me the security I needed.
Having recently migrated to Canada, after living with my diplomat family in the UK, I had to learn the life skills I didn’t know anything about, and then getting thrown into a relationship that was long distance, not having clarity on my career path, I really had to dig down deep to create the abundance I was seeking.
Fast forward to today, I live in half a million dollar house (not a lot of money in Canadian housing market) but having paid most of the equity for the house, I do feel privileged. I have two beautiful children, a husband I wake up with every morning, and a career that I truly love helping people internationally create their dreams and teach the principles of abundance along with outer practical marketing steps. I feel truly blessed. None of this would have been possible without the breakdown of my identity I experienced earlier on in my life.
The journey to abundance is very much like that. We experience a lack, a huge lack, get thrown in to discomfort and we decide to create our own magic, dance to the beat of our own rhythms and create our own destiny. The loss can at first feel like a breaking down of everything, but I believe God is breaking us down so that he can build us back up. We are no longer going to be creating from our old belief system, whether it is a belief system of our family, our culture or the religious context we were raised in.
Sisters, the journey is not always easy, but it well worth traveling.
If you have been through tragedy or loss of any kind, I want you to think of it as a catalyst and initiation into your new life. The life you will get to create from inside out based on who you are as a human being at your core, or I should say spiritual being having a human experience.
As spiritual beings we are here to grow and change, but change comes with having gone through a loss, the loss of our old identity. It doesn’t have to be a dramatic or huge loss. It could start with outgrowing a career you thought will bring you security, and you have invested time and energy to build it.
However, you feel a yearning and a desire to create a career that you love, and that fulfills your soul desires. The thought of letting go of a career you have invested time and energy in, hoping it will bring you prosperity and abundance, but doesn’t fulfill your soul, is an initiation into your new world. Feeling discontentment with where you are, and a desire for something more, still not knowing what more looks like could be an initiation to your new journey.
I would encourage you to let the tragedy become your greatest teacher in life, to help you create true wealth and happiness that comes from experiencing joy in every moment, and know that you are better because of what you went through, and also know that if happens again what steps you need to take to climb back up to claim abundance and joy.
I want to share with you a couple of tips on inviting abundance in your life, and the things you can do to help you through transition. Here they are:
1. Slow down, as simple as it may sound, when going through a crisis you don’t want to keep running to protect yourself from breaking down. Yes, if you need to pay bills and take care of the kids, please do that, however, make sometime for yourself to listen to your soul and feel your feelings. Feel all your feelings, good, sad, hurt, happy. All feelings will pass and will teach you something. Abundance is not feeling high or happy all the time, abundance is an ability to feel all feelings, embracing them completely and being with all of what life has to offer.
2. Create the support of sisters you trust. Being able to be vulnerable and sharing what you are feelings with another human being, who sees you for who you are, is a greatest gift you can give yourself during transition.
3. Consistently connect with your higher power and surrender, pray and ask for guidance.
