What is YOUR story? Who are YOU? What is YOUR life journey all about?
I help women who are introverts embrace their quiet nature and teach them to clean up their eating habits so they can take on the world energized and confident, without having to be the loudest in the room. Even though I’m a certified health coach, I wasn’t always as happy and healthy as I am today.
Up to this day, I believe that I’m here and went through what I did to share with women that they aren’t alone when it comes to being depressed or being an introvert – it doesn’t have to be that way! There’s more to your life than feeling this way, you can take charge of your life and not do it alone.
What has been YOUR biggest challenge or life obstacle that YOU feel has dimmed YOUR GLOW?
My biggest life obstacle was definitely my clinical depression in my teen years. I was miserable, looked for others to make me happy (because I thought that’s what I needed to do), and never had one week where I wasn’t crying. I didn’t cry because a boy broke my heart (although that was part of it in a phase of my life), but because I didn’t feel like I had a reason to be alive.
As much as I wanted to take my own life at the time, I didn’t have the courage to. I just wished that someone would hit me with their car to end the pain. Even though I went to several therapists, we never found anyone that could truly help me deal with my depression. I was just handed a prescription since I was diagnosed and they would either up the dose or change me to a new prescription. I was sick and tired of taking medication that didn’t even work for me.
This all changed when I was discovering the world of health, nutrition, fitness, and inspiration all in 2012 and I haven’t looked back since! Well, only to tell my story, of course. :)
How have YOU grown as a woman in the last year? What lessons, insights or ah-ha moments have you had?
All my life I’ve always known that I was the quiet, reserved girl. Last fall, I discovered which personality type I was by taking the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test, which helps you identify what personality type you are to get a basic understanding of how you see the world and your ways of interacting within it. I’ve attempted the test in the past while I was getting my certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, but I’ve never followed through.
When I finally sat down to take the test and looked through the results, I was mind blown! I wasn’t this weird girl that thought and acted differently. It’s a part of me – knowing this side of myself through this test helped me accept myself even more and create the healthy life I adore. If you’re curious, I scored as an INFP!
What else do YOU want to share with the YOU GLOW GIRL!® Community?
Your gift are wings on a bird. Without these wings, the bird is not able to soar around the world to touch the heart of others with the bird’s beautiful song. Your gift and song matter, you just have to trust yourself and sing them generously.
I also like to say to my clients, you can eat all of the kale in the world, but if you’re in a soul-sucking job or in an abusive relationship with yourself or a partner, there’s no way you will live happier or healthier – not now, nor later.
Lastly, my dear #GlowGirls what I want to leave you with is, never get so busy making a living that you forget to create a healthy life you love. :) Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! XO
